BPI Rewards to Mabuhay Miles to SMAC
BPI Rewards to Mabuhay Miles to SMAC

You can convert BPI Rewards Points to PAL Mabuhay Miles, then convert those miles to SMAC points for use at SM. If you hold a BPI Signature or BPI Platinum Rewards card, this route is worth about ₱0.075 to ₱0.08 per BPI point, compared with ₱0.05 per point when you redeem shopping credits. The catch is that BPI is reducing its bonus miles on November 16, 2026, which cuts most of that advantage.

Time-sensitive update. BPI’s bonus miles for Signature and Platinum Rewards cards on PAL Mabuhay Miles drop from 2,200 to 1,200 per 1,000 miles on November 16, 2026. The AirAsia Rewards and KrisFlyer bonuses also drop on December 5, 2026. Rates in this article were checked on November 8, 2026.

This calculator gives estimates based on rates verified on November 8, 2026 (BPI: 16,000 points = 1,000 miles plus bonus miles for Signature and Platinum Rewards; PAL and SMAC: 500 miles = 200 SMAC points in blocks of 500; BPI shopping credits: 20,000 points = ₱1,000). Programs can change without notice, so confirm current terms with BPI, PAL, and SMAC before redeeming. For questions about this tool, contact support@thedatacode.com.

It is a two-step conversion. First, you redeem your BPI Rewards Points for PAL Mabuhay Miles through BPI. Second, you convert those Mabuhay Miles into SMAC (SM Advantage Card) points through PAL’s redemption site. SMAC points work like cash at participating SM retail partners, where 1 SMAC point equals ₱1.

The trick is the bonus. BPI Signature and BPI Platinum Rewards cardholders get bonus miles on every 1,000 miles redeemed, so 16,000 BPI points turn into far more miles than the base rate. Other BPI cards (BPI Rewards, Gold Rewards, Edge, and eCredit) convert at the base rate with no bonus.

Conversion stepRate
BPI points to Mabuhay Miles (base)16,000 points = 1,000 miles
Signature and Platinum Rewards bonus (until Nov 15, 2026)+2,200 miles per 1,000 miles, so 16,000 points = 3,200 miles
Signature and Platinum Rewards bonus (from Nov 16, 2026)+1,200 miles per 1,000 miles, so 16,000 points = 2,200 miles
Mabuhay Miles to SMAC points500 miles = 200 SMAC points

For a fair comparison, the benchmark is BPI’s shopping credits, where 20,000 points get you ₱1,000 (₱0.05 per point). Let’s say you have 80,000 BPI points. That amount converts cleanly because it produces miles in exact blocks of 500.

80,000 BPI pointsMilesPeso valuePer point
Shopping credits (benchmark)None₱4,000₱0.050
Signature or Platinum Rewards, before Nov 1616,000₱6,400 in SMAC points₱0.080
Signature or Platinum Rewards, from Nov 1611,000₱4,400 in SMAC points₱0.055
Other BPI cards (no bonus)5,000₱2,000 in SMAC points₱0.025

In simple terms, before November 16 the hack gives you ₱2,400 more than shopping credits on 80,000 points (about 60% better). After the cut, the gap shrinks to ₱400 (about 10% better). With a non-bonus card, you get half of what shopping credits would give you, so skip it.

If you convert a single 16,000-point block instead, you get 3,200 miles. Since SMAC conversion only works in blocks of 500 miles, you convert 3,000 miles into ₱1,200 and keep 200 miles for later.

  1. Confirm your card. Only BPI Signature and BPI Platinum Rewards get the bonus miles.
  2. Get your accounts ready. You need a PAL Mabuhay Miles account (enrollment is required before conversion) and a SMAC account. SMAC membership costs ₱200 and is good for 5 years.
  3. Redeem BPI points for Mabuhay Miles. Use the BPI Rewards redemption channels, either by sending them a message or the 24-hour BPI Contact Center at (02) 889-10000. Prepare your customer number, card number, the name registered in Mabuhay Miles, your Mabuhay Miles number, the number of points, and the reward code (listed as PALMABUHAY1000CC, so confirm it on BPI’s PAL Mabuhay Miles page).
  4. Wait for the miles to post. BPI has previously quoted up to 15 banking days, so do not leave this for the last minute.
  5. Convert miles to SMAC points. Log in at the PAL redemption site, go to Redeeming Miles, choose Non-Flight, click the SMAC logo, set the miles with the slider, enter your SMAC number, and confirm with the OTP. Online conversions are credited to SMAC in real time.
  • Miles convert to SMAC in blocks of 500, with a minimum of 500 miles.
  • The maximum is 100,000 miles per member per year.
  • Going backward is a bad deal. SMAC to Mabuhay Miles converts at 250 SMAC points = 150 miles, so do not loop your points.
  • BPI says redemptions generally cannot be cancelled or converted back once made, so double check the numbers before you submit.
  • BPI can adjust the points required without prior notice, as it just did with the bonus miles.

It makes sense if you hold a Signature or Platinum Rewards card, you shop often at SM Store, SM Markets, or participating Alfamart branches, and you can complete the redemption before November 16.

Skip it if you hold a non-bonus BPI card, or if you plan to fly Philippine Airlines. Think of it like this. SMAC conversion locks each mile at ₱0.40 (₱200 per 500 miles). If an award flight would save you more than ₱0.40 per mile used (the fare you would have paid, minus the taxes and fees you still pay, divided by the miles needed), flying is the better use of your miles.

Does this work for every BPI credit card?
Technically yes, but the value only makes sense for BPI Signature and Platinum Rewards. Other cards convert at 16,000 points = 1,000 miles, which is about ₱0.025 per point.

Is it still worth it after November 16, 2026?
It is roughly on par with shopping credits (about ₱0.055 versus ₱0.05 per point). It only makes sense if you specifically want SMAC points.

How long does the whole process take?
The BPI to Mabuhay Miles step can take up to 15 banking days based on past BPI guidance. The miles to SMAC step is instant when done online.

Who can receive SMAC points?
SMAC Start, SMAC, and SMAC Prestige members with a valid account.

Can I convert only part of my miles?
Yes, as long as it is in blocks of 500 miles. Any leftover miles stay in your Mabuhay Miles account.

For Signature and Platinum Rewards holders, this is one of the better uses of BPI points right now, but the window is short. If you have enough points and you shop at SM anyway, start the BPI redemption before November 16. After that date, shopping credits give you nearly the same value with fewer steps.
